Black Friday

My job is almost 24 miles from my home and it normally takes me about a half hour drive to get there. When you live in a small town, you expect a commute for almost any job. The boutique where I work is in the middle of the biggest shopping area of about a twelve county region. Today, the last three quarters of a mile of that drive took 35 minutes. If I hadn't been getting paid, there's no way I would have been in that mess.

Oh, you have courage. We have stayed far, far from Retail America today.

The only "shopping" we did on Black Friday was to have my mechanic fix my brake light!

Peace, Virginia

You would have had to pay me some serious money to make me go anywhere near a traditional retail hub (mall, Walmart, Target, ToysRUs) on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I worked in retail for eight years, and I know exactly why I wouldn't be caught dead in a mall on Black Friday.

Yuck! I know how that is. My commute usually takes about 45 minutes, but things can happen to turn it into 1 1/2 hours.
