Technoparenting

Earlier tonight, the womanchild and I had a conversation via Facebook IM. She constantly text messages her friends, but I'm without cell phone, so we usually converse the old fashioned way. I wait for her to return my calls.

I think I'll like communicating with her this way. It made the mom stuff so much easier. "Yeah, I know, mom" comes across so much nicer when I'm only imagining the expression on her face as she says it.

I read this right after Google Chatting with my daughter, who is in the same house (though not the same room). :-)

I never felt really comfortable having long internet chats. My attention tends to flag after a while. But, I suspect parenting will be easier when my kids get facebook :-)

Or not.
