Being fat isn't always bad
Everywhere you turn, there is some news article about the dangers of being fat. Now, it looks like being overweight can have a positive affect on preventing senile dementia and suicide. Think we'll see that in the mainstream media anytime soon? Or is yet another obesity making health care more costly for everyone article more likely?
I know that one person's observations aren't scientific proof. They're merely anecdotal. I've spent a lot of time in nursing homes and assisted living centers over the years, though. In the assisted living home where my father stayed after we could no longer provide adequate care at home, I don't think I ever saw a fat patient. I could say the same thing about the dementia wings at the nursing homes of my grandfather and grandmother-in-law. Oh, I'd see fat stroke patients, including my grandfather, fat cardiac care patients, fat people confined to wheelchairs, but they had their minds still.
Junkfood Science is simply the best informative blog I've read in ages. The author can make scientific studies understandable without dumbing them down to the point that accuracy is lost.

Another positive to being bigger is that bigger women are far more sensual and sexier! (at least in my book!)

So at what point, exactly, do I need to gain weight in order to keep all my marbles?
I'll have you know that, with uncanny prescience, I started working on this very problem last winter, and am happy to report that I am now 15 pounds less senile than I was last year.
Umm, yay?
Hi Cynthia,
Missing your voice, and hoping all is well.
Mags
Cynthia,
I'll echo Magdalene...I miss your posts and hope all is well.
Judi
Let me make that three, Cynthia. Hope you're OK!
MISS you and am very concerned about you. I hope your absence is just a matter of some kind of technological glitch...
Does anyone have contact info for Cynthia? I am concerned.
I'll answer my own question: there's a Yahoo email address on Cynthia's profile; I've sent her an email.
Mags
I emailed her a week ago, got no reply. Which is why I am concerned...
I have, too, and I asked her to reply immediately, even if just to say "I'm alive."
Nothing and it's been way too long.
Cyn? Cyn's daughter? Somebody?
Ditto...Cynthia, we're all concerned and would love to hear from you...
Judi
