Late night silliness
Sometimes I get a little obsessed.
It's 2:39 in the morning, and I can't stop downloading music. Thanks to Mary of MY LIFE IS AN OPEN BLOG and Paul (who will always be the Belfast Cowboy) of Single Man Writing , I've gotten hooked on The Saw Doctors. They led me to think about Van Morrison which led me to think about Bob Dylan because of an available duet of Crazy Love which got me thinking about 60s folk music, which led to Tim Hardin and Bobby Darin. When I saw the Four Tops version of If I Were A Carpenter, I ricocheted over to Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding, and Etta James which led me to Ella Fitzgerald who sent me over to Louis Armstrong which led to Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller and Benny Goodman which then slingshot me over to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin which led to Elvis, then to Carl Perkins, from there to Eddie Cochran, and from there to Led Zeppelin which turned into Coheed and Cambria, which took a sharp turn into The Shins.
OK, I need to stop and catch my breath. If I had to say those run on sentences out loud, I'd be blue in the face. I feel like I've been flying through time.
Is Dr. Who around here somewhere? I don't see the phone booth.
This edit is made under threat of pain from the womanchild. When she gets threatening, she's skeery. Quoting directly here: I have much gratitude to the daughter for introducing me to Coheed and Cambria and The Shins. And for showing me how to download.
OK, you can stop twisting my arm now. Really now, stop it!

On what a long, strange trip you`ve been!
I`ve also checked out the Saw Doctors after seeing them mentioned on Paul`s site. They were just in Philly in March.

I still haven't been able to find a Saw Doctors CD. But I'm working on it.
You absolutely must see them in person. Unfortunetly, they stay close to the Irish infested (ha) areas of the US...I am going nuts burining CD's at my daughters! Just did two CD's of Elizabethtown soundtracks (so many of them!!)
Oh my, Cynthia! What FUN! I shall check out the Saw Doctors immediately. LOVE that Van Morrison.
I've ordered the new Springsteen CD, The Seeger Sessions. Can't wait.
BTW, have you heard The Flaming Lips? Check out "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song." Awesome!

That's funny; my last entry was about music, too. Before you stop downloading, check out the music of Nick Drake. I think both you and woman child will like him. I remember long ago on your AOL journal mentioning Tim Hardin to you. His version "Reason to Believe" (which the Carpenters, bless them, also did) is so beautiful. It just breaks your heart.
you're right, downloading is SO addictive! Once you start you are bound to just go from song to song until you're too tired to stay awake anymore!
I must be the last person in this country to have not yet ventured into the techno realm of downloadable music. :-/
