PAD Challenge, Day 6

Silly mortal,
you cannot hide
from the demons
you created.
So run, flee.
We sail on the wind
of your nightmares
and laugh with
the cries torn
from your throat.
Do not doubt,
you have carried yourself away.

Today's prompt was to write an ekphrastic poem, defined as "Poetry that imitates, describes, critiques, dramatizes, reflects upon, or otherwise responds to a work of nonliterary art, especially the visual." Poetic Asides (the source of this delightful, infernal challenge) provided two paintings. I chose Flight of the Witches by Francisco de Goya.

I absolutely love this poem. And what a fabulous Goya! I had never seen it before. Your poem reflects its inspiration beautifully. Terrific.
