Soaring

It takes more than the wind.
Sinew, ligament, bone;
the architecture must be intact.
Muscles ache and burn,
but people see only the delicacy of feathers.
The wind can beat as well as lift,
and eyes burn in the sun.

Flying is work,
but well worth the joy.
